Precision Laceration Repair

Precision Laceration Repair
When an accident happens, the quality of the initial repair is the most significant factor in how a scar will look for the rest of your life. While emergency rooms are excellent at stabilizing injuries, we bring a different level of expertise to the table. As a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, we are dedicated to delicate tissue handling, meticulous layer-by-layer closure, and aesthetic preservation. Our specialty is focused exclusively on the complex anatomy of the face and neck.
Why Choose a Facial Specialist for Repair?
The face is a landscape of high-stakes anatomy. A millimeter of difference in the lip border or the eyelid can significantly alter a patient's appearance. Our approach involves:
- Anatomic Realignment: Ensuring muscle, fascia, and skin layers are perfectly aligned.
- Tension-Free Closure: Surface skin heals without stretching or widening.
- Specialized Suturing: Utilizing ultra-fine, non-reactive materials typically reserved for elective cosmetic procedures.
Our Scope of Care
Our expertise is focused solely on the face and neck. We treat:
- Facial Lacerations: Cheeks, forehead, and chin.
- Specialized Areas: Complex repairs involving the lips, ears, nose, and eyebrows.
- Scar Revision: Improving the appearance of poorly healed previous injuries.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the repair performed? Most acute lacerations are repaired right here in our office suite, providing a calm and sterile environment away from the chaos of a hospital emergency room.
Can all injuries be treated in the office? To perform an office-based repair, patients must be able to tolerate procedures under local anesthesia. If a patient requires general anesthesia or twilight sedation, the repair may need to be coordinated at a surgical center.
Will I have a scar? Any time the skin is cut through its full thickness, a scar will form. However, the goal of a plastic surgery repair is to make that scar as narrow, flat, and well-hidden within the natural relaxed skin tension lines of your face as possible.
Does Dr. Goyal treat body injuries? No. Our specialty is the face and neck. For lacerations on the arms, legs, or torso, we recommend seeing a general plastic surgeon or visiting an urgent care facility.
